Visitor

My nephew Henry came up tonight from DeLano to visit this weekend. We always like visitors but it's especially good to see him. He's a great guy.

Not Much Happening

Thursday is my favorite night of TV. Grey's Anatomy is my favorite show. Along with Survivor, CSI and My Name Is Earl it makes it a great night. The programs Shark and 6 Degrees are also on and we have them on tape to watch at a later time.

MySpace Blues

MySpace deleted some of my pictures today. The sent me a message that they were found to be OFFENSIVE! They were pictures of a Hitachi Massager. They sell the same messager at Walmart which is a very conservative store. I don't understand and it pisses me off. On the bright side I was glad they didn't delete me completely because I really like going and playing there.

The Final Cost

Not so bad. I ended up gaining 3 pounds. So for future reference, about 3/4 of a large combination pizza equals 3 pounds on weigh-day. For me and MY metabolism, not so bad indeed!

Payday is not just a delicious candy bar

Today we have to PAY THE PIPER! It's our weigh day and we will see the damage we did to our diet this past weekend eating that Pizza. It was delicious and we needed a change so it was worth it, no matter what that piece of shit obnoxious scale has to say!

Sunday Sports

There were NASCAR and NHRA drag races on TV today. I watched the NASCAR race from Bristol and Jeff Burton won the race. He's a great driver and he hasn't won in a couple of years so everyone was happy to see him win. Jeff Gordon came in 3rd which puts him in 2nd in the Championship points race so it all worked out well today. YAY!

In The NHRA race from the Multiplex in Houston Brandon Bernstein won Top Fuel and moved into 3rd place in the standings just 90 points out of 1st place.

Robert Hight won his 2nd race in a row in Funny Car to also move into 3rd place behind Ron Capps and his team mate John Force. Robert is really peaking at the right time with just a few races to go.

Richie Stevens won Pro Stock and surprised everyone by beating out both Greg Anderson and Jason Line who have been totally dominating the class.

It was a great day full of Car Races and Football.

My Cheatin' Heart

Today was my best day in quite a while. Let's face it, I'm a Food-A-Holic and having been on a diet 24-7 for about 3 years now it was a great treat to eat a REAL PIZZA today. It was delicious. I mean I guess it was delicious... I'm not the pizza expert I used to be back in the day. All I know is it tasted like a party was happening in my mouth and everyone was arriving (old joke). My baby condoned this and even paid for it. I didn't even have to do it behind her back like I usually do! I think I love her more today. I'm easy!

GIF fun

I made up this Animated GIF today to post to my friends on MySpace. I had the GIF of the finger pointing down already so I used Irfanview to break it into 2 still frames. The I used my paint program to put them into bigger canvas' and added the "Have a swell weekend" with Cool3D, making the "Swell" bigger in one frame. Then I just put them together as an animated GIF with CoffeeCup animator. VIOLA! ....a cool new animated GIF for my friends.

Thursday's The Night

Back when Seinfeld was on Thursday night, NBC called it "Must see TV". Well Thursday is once again must see TV, only it not limited to just NBC. Tonight, My name is Earl, Survivor, CSI (the original not those crappy knock-offs) and Grey's Anatomy came on giving us the best night of the week for TV watching. It was great! I like other programs on other nights but Thursday is the best.

Media Vultures

I get SO mad, pissed off, fed up with the various media outlets for exploiting the pain of celebrity death. I love celebrity news and gossip more than most. I subscribe to Entertainment Weekly and read everything I see on the internet. But to exploit their pain for ratings is unforgivable. It makes me sick! Steve Irwin and Anna Nicole Smith's son come to mind right now. They just keep beating their deaths into the ground in the name of reporting or tributes. It's just a horrible way to get ratings! Shame on them all!

Impressive Debut

We watched the new show "Studio 60" at lunch today. We taped it last night just so we could watch it at a more reasonable time for us. I must say that I was really impressed! I liked it a lot. I liked the stars, the whole cast, the story and Aaron Sorkin's writing. I have been a fan of Sorkin for quite awhile and once again he hit it out of the park. I will be looking forward to this show each week.

TV or not TV

The new TV season officially kicked off tonight with the CBS block of comedies. "The Class" is a new show that stars Jason Ritter. It was funny and shows some promise. It is followed by "How I Met Your Mother","Two And A Half Men" and "The New Adventures Of Old Christine". We watched these shows last year and liked them so we will continue watching them again this year. We taped the new show with Matthew Perry, "Studio 60". It has gotten good buzz and is written by Aaron Sorkin (West Wing) so it should be pretty good. I love Television so I'm loving this time of year. Hooray!

Drowned Drags

For the 10th time in 13 years the NHRA Nationals at Maple Grove Raceway have been rained out. Ten times in thirteen years is not a very good percentage. Maybe they should consider moving this race out of Virginia. Re-scheduling this late in the season makes it hard on ALL the racers!

Ummm.... Corndog!

Barb and I ventured downtown to the center plaza to check out the Annual CHILI COOK OFF and CAR SHOW. It was a perfect day for it as it was sunny and mild out. It was all very nice with bands, booths, food and a fun zone for the kids. It seemed like there were more motorcycles this year. We enjoyed it and got some cool pictures of some nice machines.

Gravity sucks

I stumbled today. I didn't completely fall but I would have if the bed and end table didn't stop me. It hurt all the same. My left foot hurts like hell! I fell a short while back out in the garage. I went all the way down out there and my knee isn't the same anymore. I'm too old and WAY too heavy to be doing my own stunts!

The TV season begins!

Survivor: Cook Island had it's first episode tonight. It has been highly anticipated because of the racial thing, They divided the 4 teams by race. A Caucasian tribe, African-American tribe, Asian tribe and finally a Hispanic tribe. It was very entertaining and looks like it's going to be an interesting season.

Mid September

While it has cooled off for the past month, all of a sudden
it was HOT today. Hot enough that we turned on our air
conditioning. We don't like to use it because we're thrifty
(cheap) but we believe in comfort more. AHHH... cool!

Nut 'n Honey

I go through my nightly ritual and comment at Barbara's blog.
Since I'm at the blogs I then come here and click to "Post a new
entry", usually not having any idea what I'm about to post. I look
back at the day and figure out what we did or what's happening
that I want to share. Today is one of those days that nothing much
happened. That leaves me with nothing to post. And here it is...
NOTHING HONEY!

Now that I think about it a little more, the big deal today is that
Jenny and her family left for and arrived safely in Hawaii for a cool
7 day vacation. I'm sure they'll have a great time, They deserve it!

MNF

Monday night football premiered tonight on ESPN and they
had the first ever double header... one game followed by a
second game. It was novel but I burned out on watching so
much. Maybe I'll be ready for more by this weekend. Maybe.

R U Ready 4 Sum Football

Today was the opening Sunday of football season. It wasn't
opening day as they had one special game on Thursday that
was officially "Opening Day" with bells and whistles and all.
But this was the 1st day with a full complement of games. I
wasn't very interested prior to kick-off but once they started,
all the years of interest in football came to the surface and I
became the football fan of old. I was yelling at the TV, cussing
the referees and switching channels from game to game. It's
weird how years of watching football has me programmed.
You always end up going back to your comfort zone!

Sunday Saturday

Jenny and Jacob dropped by for a pleasant visit. It was a
welcome surprise. Poor Barb is till recouping from her face
flop and this is just what the doctor ordered. NASCAR had
a race on TV this evening. Both the visit and the race made
today feel like a Sunday. Plus there was special foods! Being
on a constant diet, I always enjoy a chance to drift off a bit.
We had Chicken Quesadilla from Las Graviota's and it was
REAL GOOD! With my late-in-life metabolism, I WILL be
paying for this! I know I'll be able to get it all back in order
within a coupla days but that's the price to pay for good grub.

Ow!

Barbara had a lesson in gravity today and fell down. I don't
mean to make light of her accident because she fell HARD!
And awkward! She fell out in the driveway, banging her lip,
chin and forearm. There was blood and a lot of pain. She is a
trooper and toughed it out but she suffered. We put Betadine
on the wounds and ice on her arm. i hope she feels better today.

Things Change

OH WELL...
We did one of our regular Road Trips to Turlock and
Modesto to buy groceries. The prices are much better
there that it's well worth our efforts. We usually stock
up on fat free Cool Whip because we use a lot and really
love the stuff. BUT... they didn't have it! They did have
Cool Whip "South Beach Diet" which is close, so we got
that instead. I hate it when things change but you just
hafta go with it sometimes. It happens quite often in the
diet food industry. We've seen it before and I'm sure it
will happen again. Like I said at the beginning... oh well!

Steve Irwin

I feel very bad about Steve Irwin's death. He was
killed by a Stingray in a one in a million fluke thing.
He leaves his wife with 2 small children behind. All
the death defying crap he did in his past, this should
not have ended his life. Unfortunately it did.

What A Drag!

...and that's a GOOD THING!
There were 6 hours of Drag Racing from the Mac Tools
U.S. Nationals on TV today. It's the most prestigious race
of the year. I love watching my Drag Races on the tube, so
this was heaven for me.

Labor Day

Today is Labor Day. It's a day that we are supposed to
Avoid labor, to kick back and do nothing. Since I don't
do anything anyway... it's just a normal day for me! Yay!

HAPPY LABOR DAY!

Drawin' a...

BLANK!
I show up here after midnight to write a little something usually about the day we had. I rarely plan ahead as to what I might write about... I just sorta wing it so to speak. I've mentioned before that Saturdays are on the slow side, so I didn't really think I had anything to write about. But as I think back... We printed some 8 x 10's of Jacob... I had a nice long talk on the phone with my old buddy Leonard... There were Drag Races from the US Nationals on TV... so I think I might have had a preconceived idea that nothing happened today. It was a good day.

Good-bye & Good Luck

We had to call Animal Control to pick up the stray puppy
that has been hanging around our house. We felt bad about
doing it but we tried to find her owner for a couple of days
by putting up posters around the neighborhood and no one
claimed her. She was a sweetie and I sure hope she finds a
good home with a loving family. We are not ready for a dog
right now on so many levels. Most of all our yard isn't totally
fenced, making it very difficult to keep the dog from running
around and possibly getting hit by a car.

GOOD LUCK LITTLE PUP!

Decisions... decisions!

You have to make decisions in life. Some are simple and some
aren't. But you got to make the tough ones even though you
may not want to. Sometimes you agonize over the decision you
make but you just make the best decision you can at the time.
