I talked to Jim today for quite awhile. It turns out that after 18 years, his wife Tracy has filed for divorce. It's going to be hard on everyone, but especially the kids. Very sad indeed!

I went to Kaiser Hospital for my Neurological exam. The doctor ran a bunch of tests on my feet and legs. He determined that I have damage on my left leg and foot. I coulda told him that over the phone. Ah, modern medicine.

We got word today that a good friend had passed away. Lucky Mancini was our neighbor in Ridgecrest. He was a father, a husband and an all around good man whose health had been declining after a long robust life. Peace at last, Lucky. We'll see you on the other side.

Tonight was the first night for the girls and I must say that they were MUCH better than the guys were yesterday. I'm not particularly interested in the whole thing this year, I just wanted to get an idea of what the talent is like. My interest may grow.... who knows?

We watched American Idol for the first time this season. We don't watch the creepy audition process, we waited till they whittled it down to 12 guys and 12 girls. Tonight was the guys 1st turn and it wasn't very memorable. We'll see if the girls do any better tomorrow.

They ran the Daytona 500 today which officially kicks off the 2007 NASCAR season. It's a restrictor plate race that limits the cars horsepower and top speed. Not my favorite but I'm gassed about the upcoming races. WOO-HOO! BTW.... it was quite an exciting finish with a massive crash coming to the finish line and cars sliding all over the place.

I always have my eye out for new applications that'll clean and peed up my computer. Today I downloaded "XP Repair Pro" and "PC Pit Stop Optimize". I ran them both, they cleared a few problems, cleaned my registry and appeared to have made my computer a little more efficient. However now when I went to YouTube, it won't play. Now I gotta look into why and what I did differently from yesterday to cause this BS. It's always something, I'll tell ya!

We celebrated Valentines Day by going out to dinner. We went to Las Graviotas here in town. It had been quite awhile since the last time we ate there and it's still just as good as I remembered. And since we don't go out often, it was a nice treat!

I downloaded UFC 67 and got to watch the High Definition Pay-Per-View broadcast after I watched my normal Monday night programs. It was pretty cool. The fights were as exciting as advertised and the quality was superb!

All of a sudden today, I can't access MySpace..... at all. Not any of our pages or even MySpace home page where you log in. I scanned, washed and restored my computer many times with no success. I remembered that I have Mozilla Firefox browser also so I gave it a try and it worked perfectly! I tried some more to get Explorer fixed but finally gave up and started getting used to Firefox. What the heck!?!

I had a buddy day and I guess a buddy week. Today my buddy Tom called and we played a couple of games of on-line Cribbage. Later in the evening my old buddy Johnny called and we talked for an hour and a half. We hadn't talked in quite awhile so we caught up. Plus earlier in the week, my long haul trucker friend, Ron Tibbits stopped by and spent the night. Like I said, It's been a BUDDY WEEK!

The Prestige

I downloaded and watched "The Prestige". It's a movie I had been looking forward to and it was pretty good. It's about 2 rival Magicians that stars Christian Bale, Hugh Jackman, Scarlett Johannson and Michael Caine. It's directed by Christopher Nolan, the guy who made "Momento". Christian Bale really impresses me. He is quite an actor.

My buddy Ron is a long-haul trucker and he stopped by for a visit. It gives him a chance to sleep in a bed and shower in a real bathroom. Plus it gives us a chance to catch up. He stayed for a day and a half and then left to go to Oakland to pick up a load to take to Wyoming. It was a nice visit with and old buddy.

It's weird on Sunday when there are no Football games or Car Races on TV. This is the Bye week prior to the Superbowl. The Weatherman on TV has been talking about it's the driest January in decades and that there's no rain in sight... so I thoroughly watered the lawn because of their EXPERT forecast. Of all things, my keyboard quit working today. It got so if I struck any key, it would freeze up my computer. @#&^%@*!!! After much, MUCH frustrating troubleshooting, I got it squared away. I ended up having to go into the control panel, uninstalling then re-installing the drivers to make it work. Glad I got it fixed but whatta hassle!

Barbara came home for a minute to take care of hair and nail appointments. Even though her time was short and her chores were full, she still made time to take care of me. Pan's Labyrinth

I downloaded and watched the movie called Pan's Labyrinth. I've been hearing a lot of buzz (even Oscar buzz) so I thought I would check it out. It is part surreal dark fantasy and part realistic period piece. Very strange and original. Also it was sub-titled from Spanish but that was not a problem. One of those movies that I'm glad I saw but would never watch it again.

I downloaded a Hi-Def copy of tonight's episode of "Scrubs" off the internet BEFORE it was even telecast here on the west coast. Pretty neat. It allowed me to watch the UFC and tape "Grey's Anatomy". (and see great picture quality in stereo)

As I drove to Turlock to do some banking, I was thinking how independent I was being. Then as I circled Bank of America for 20 minutes looking for a parking place... I thought, "Heck with this," and called Barbara to do it. At least I got a nice drive out of it.

Home Alone

I found that I'm having to get used to being home alone again. It's just a little weird because earlier as I sat here, I just felt as Barb was in the front of the house... a nice warm comfortable feeling, until I stopped to realize I was here by myself.

Well, Barb went back to Danville. It was a great visit and she really hooked me up with the food and laundry. She's doing whats necessary with Jenny's recuperation and I'm doing whats necessary to keep myself and the house going while she does.

Barb came home and we got to spend some time together. When she's here, the quality of the meals go up at least 100%! She fixed us a great Chicken on toast sandwich for lunch and then Steak, Potato, Roasted Veggies and Garlic bread for dinner. Ummmmmm.....good! Then we watched "Dreamgirls" on DVD and it was a pretty good musical. Everybody in it did some good acting (and singing). It was a good day!

Well last night I set up to tape Boston Legal and something went wrong and it didn't tape. Oh well I thought... then I happen to find it on-line at one of my share sites. I got a case of cabin fever and decided to get out of the house. So I went on a Road Trip! I burned a couple of CD's for the road and I was gone... gone.... gone, baby! I drove down to Delano to see my brother and nephew. It all went like clockwork. A nice drive down, a three plus hour visit and a nice drive back. I was home by 6pm.

Today was a fence day. I went out and measured the bad portions of the wind damaged fence. I called the insurance company with the numbers and settled the claim. Then I went out and put a repair board up to secure the damaged part from the once again increasing winds. A fence day!

I filled out the escrow paperwork for the house on Robertson and took down to get it notarized. $10, a fingerprint and Bada-Bing it's all legal. I sealed it all up and mailed it off to Chicago Title.

I watched "Casino Royale" that I had downloaded. It was a pretty good, action packed movie with the new James Bond (Daniel Craig). It had extra meaning as I had watched...

the new movie on Starz Saturday. It was "The Matador" with the old James Bond (Pierce Brosnan) as an off-kilter hit man. He takes on these different roles as he can afford to with all the money he's made off of James Bond movies. All in all it was a pretty good movie.

I watched the movie "Syriana" on my computer today. It takes place in the middle east and there were scenes where they were speaking Arabic but with no sub-titles. I initially thought maybe it was supposed to be like that, but a third of the way through I stopped and downloaded a different copy and sure enough the were sub-titles and the movie made much more sense!

We got Barbs new computer up and running today. The new monitor arrived just as we were hooking ieverything up so that worked out as well. It's a wide-screen LCD monitor with built in speakers so now she has good color and sound too. We got lucky and Jonathon from Netvelocite came by to finish getting our internet and email connected up properly. It all worked out well and the kids present is a great gift at just the right time.

I got a call from the realtor to tell me that she took the buyers by the Robertson house and it was a wreck. She went into detail and even emailed me pictures of the trash and damage. It was the World Finals at Pomona today. It was the last drag race of the year. Tony Schumacher Made an unbelievable come-back to win the Top Fuel Championship. He had to win the last race AND set a worlds record to clinch it. It was really something. I felt kinda bad for Doug Kaletta who had the victory snatched from him. Oh well, there are always winners and losers.
